Double Amputee Noah Galloway Stuns on Dancing with the Stars

When the Dancing with the Stars Season 20 cast was announced, we at Magee were excited to see an everyday hero and double amputee as one of the cast members. Noah Galloway is a U.S. Army combat veteran from Birmingham, Alabama and a current competitor on the show.

During Noah’s second tour of duty in Iraq in 2005, he lost his left arm above the elbow and left leg above the knee to a roadside bomb. He spent a significant amount of time in rehab at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC recovering from his injuries. He learned how to walk with a prosthesis and how to adapt to having only one arm and hand.

Previously an athlete and fitness junkie, Noah soon found himself out-of-shape in a deep depression after his injuries. Then one day he woke up, took a good look at himself in the mirror, and vowed to take control of his life. He began working out, making healthier choices, and doing whatever he could to inspire others to better their lives.

Noah now spends his time as a personal trainer, motivational speaker, model, and father to three young children. He’s also a long-distance runner and adventure competitor, in addition to the creator of a charity called the No Excuses Charitable Fund. The fund provides financial resources to other charities near and dear to Noah’s heart.

With everything he has going on, you have to wonder, how in the world does he have time to compete on Dancing with the Stars? Noah lists competing on Dancing with the Stars as one of the most challenging things he’s ever done. He and his dancing partner Sharna Burgess have successfully made it through the first three episodes of the show with choreographed routines set to dance styles such as the cha-cha and Argentine tango. So far, each of his performances has left the studio crowd stunned and even in tears. He floats across the dance floor just a good as his celebrity competitors; none of which have a physical disability like him. With every dance, Noah epitomizes his personal slogan #NoExcusesNoah. He frequently uses this social media hashtag to promote the idea that nothing can prevent him from achieving his goals.

So what’s next for Noah? He’s currently trialing a state-of-the-art prosthetic arm to possibly use in one of his future dance routines on the show. He doesn’t use a prosthetic arm in his everyday life, but he and his dance partner thought it could add a different effect to dance styles they’ll be working on in the coming weeks.

Make sure to catch Noah dancing every Monday night at 8pm on Dancing with the Stars on ABC. And definitely don’t forget to show your love for him each week by voting online or calling in your vote to 1-855-234-5605 after the show each Monday night!
