Night of Champions Recap

Magee’s 13th Annual Night of Champions was a tremendous success! On Friday, May 3, a huge crowd came to Penns Landing Caterers for a night of celebrating the champions in our community.

After a VIP reception, the night kicked off with Scott Palmer from the Phillies introducing all our wheelchair athletes from our rugby, basketball, tennis and racing teams. The crowd was then treated to the comedic stylings of Joe Conklin – as you can see from the photos, he had the audience rolling. We then honored our two 2013 Champions of the Community Lauren DeBruicker and Joel Feldman, each of whom gave impassioned speeches about the organizations with which they work.

After awards, the excitement of the live auctions began – they included penthouse in Maui, a trip to Namibia and even a signed Wayne Gretzky jersey. During dinner, everyone was treated to a live performance by 61 North (if you loved their music as much as I did, you’ll want to check them out on iTunes!). The silent auction and raffles continued throughout the night.

All the proceeds from this event will support Magee’s patient and community programs, such as wheelchair sports, art therapy, our Facility Dog Program and more. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make Night of Champions a great event!
