Paralympic Track Trials Begin Sunday at Chicago Marathon

This Sunday, some of the best athletes in the world will participate in the Chicago Marathon. Of the 45,000 participants, 32 athletes are trying to accomplish more than just reaching the finish line after 26.2 miles, they are trying to punch a ticket to Brazil in the process.

The Chicago Marathon will host the part of the Paralympic trials for the US track team. That means the best para-athletes the US has to offer will converge on the Windy City in hopes of being one of the four people to secure a spot in the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

2014 Chicago Marathon champion Tatyana McFadden will return to defend her title in the professional elite wheelchair field, and she’s also featured these videos on BP’s Paralympic team and from NBC 5 Chicago.

More to come from Magee’s Wheelchair Sports Department about the Paralympic Games and Team USA as we get closer to the event.
