PT Month Spotlight: Meet Ranit Lieberman!

Can you tell us a little bit about your background?   I’m originally from Northern New Jersey and moved to Philadelphia 2 years ago to join Team Magee! I have lived in a lot of places, including Georgia and California so my accent can be a little hard to place. I’ve been a physical therapist for five years and love working with the adult neurological population.

Why did you decide to become a physical therapist?  When I was in college, my mom had cancer and had physical therapy during her recovery. I admired how much her physical therapist impacted her, both physically and emotionally, and I thought to myself “I want to do that.”

What is the most rewarding part of your job?   I think the most rewarding part of my job is helping a patient get to that moment where, for the first time since their injury or illness, they do something that they thought they would never do again.

Can you tell us about an experience that solidified for you that you made the right career choice?   It’s hard to pick out a single moment, but I knew I found the right career for myself when I realized that at the end of most days, I’m energized by my work with my patients, rather than depleted.

What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of work?   When I’m not at work, I can usually be found reading a book or watching reruns of my favorite TV show, The Office.

Thanks Ranit!  We are so glad to have you as part of Team Magee!
