On behalf of everyone on Team Magee, we would like to offer our veterans and active duty military our sincerest gratitude for their service and our utmost respect for their courage. Today, we reflect on all that the men and women of our military, both past and present, have given us — and we’re reminded, once again, that freedom isn’t free. As an authorized provider of specialized medical care for wounded veterans, we are so proud to have the opportunity to serve those who have served us.
Today, all across the city of Philadelphia, there are events and memorials to remember those who have given us so much. We encourage you to take a moment of your day to honor our nation’s veterans.
As an aside, this blogger would personally like to thank the brave Navy sailors featured in the above photo — especially my (little) brother, second from the right. You make me proud every day!

• The Joe Bonham Project: Through Monday, November 11, Drexel University College of Medicine, New College Building, 245 N. 15th Street. Through Monday, November 11, Drexel University exhibits The Joe Bonham Project, a collection of more than 40 portraits of wounded Iraq and Afghan War veterans in recovery, making for the perfect homage to the country’s veterans. Access to the exhibition is completely free.
• Independence Hall: Monday, November 11, Independence Hall, 520 Chestnut Street. Veterans Day means ticket-free tours of Independence Hall all day on Monday, November 11. The attraction, that normally requires tickets, invites history buffs inside of its historic walls for tours led by National Park Service guides.
• National Constitution Center: Monday, November 11, National Constitution Center, 525 Arch Street.To celebrate Veterans Day, the National Constitution Center offers museum-goers with $5 admission all day long and veterans are admitted for free. Explore the permanent and visiting exhibitions — including Capture the Moment: The Pulitzer Prize Photographs — and attend flag workshops, a wreath-laying ceremony, talks and more special activities honoring our nation’s vets.
• Independence Seaport Museum: November 9-11, Independence Seaport Museum, 211 S. Christopher Columbus Boulevard. The Independence Seaport Museum has a ton in store for Veterans Day guests. From November 9 through 11, embark on guided tours of the Olympia, a Spanish-American War-era ship, watch gun drills and hear about life aboard the vessel. At 11 a.m. on November 11, raise a hat to the country’s veterans at a memorial ceremony in front of the Becuna. Plus, the Independence Seaport Museum will be offering free admission to all veterans on Monday, November 11 in honor of members of the United States Armed Forces
• Tomb of the Unknown Soldier: Monday, November 11, 10-11 a.m. Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Washington Square, 7th and Walnut streets. On Monday morning, the Philadelphia Veterans Advisory Commission observes Veterans Day with a ceremony in Washington Square park, where a statue of George Washington stands vigil at the tomb of an unknown soldier who died during the War for Independence.
• Philadelphia Vietnam Veteran Memorial: Monday, November 11, 12:30-1:30 p.m. Philadelphia Vietnam Veteran Memorial, Front and Spruce streets. The Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund hosts a Veterans Day ceremony on Monday afternoon at the commemorative site overlooking the Delaware River.
• Philadelphia Korean War Memorial: Monday, November 11, 11 a.m.-noon. Philadelphia Korean War Memorial, Front Street between Spruce and Dock streets. Practically adjacent to the Vietnam Veteran Memorial, the Korean War Memorial hosts a Veteran’s Day ceremony immediately preceding the event at the Vietnam memorial.
• Veterans Multi-Service Center: Monday, November 11, 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Veterans Multi-Service Center, 213 N. 4th Street. The Veterans Multi-Service Center will be honoring homeless veterans throughout most of the day with multiple events, 9 am to 1:30 p.m. Highlights include a Jazz Sanctuary performance at 10 a.m. and the VNC Book Where the Wars End, The VMC Story launch at 11:30 a.m.
