Volunteer Spotlight: The Magee Rehab Hospital Foundation

As National Volunteer Week continues, today we turn our thanks to the men and women who serve on the Magee Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees. This group of volunteers is made up of former patients, family members of former patients, and many whose only connection to Magee is an interest in helping to improve the lives of the patients we treat.

Today we’d like to highlight two Board members in particular, and thank them for their outstanding leadership.

Our Chairman, Bill Conrad has served on the board since 2008. His first connection to Magee was through his professional work in the finance industry  which led him to start volunteering as a member of our old “President’s Council.” He currently serves as the Chairman of the board and has been working tirelessly leading the campaign to build the Creative Therapy Center and Healing Gardens for the last two years.

Whether it’s leading strategy meetings with other board members, meeting with donors or prospects, or spending time answering phone calls or emails, his steady leadership and strong dedication to this project have been remarkable. And, through his leadership along with the efforts of the other members of the leadership team, we have raised $1.5 million towards our $2 million goal! (For more information on the campaign, email healinggarden@mageerehab.org.)

Sue Hamilton, a Vice Chair of the board and a member since 2004, has been involved with the Night of Champions event for more than 10 years, serving as Chair or Co-Chair. The Night of Champions happens every May and brings together more than 300 people for a fun night that includes dinner and a live and silent auction. VIP’s from the sports world join our Magee wheelchair athletes and participants of the other patient programs that are highlighted at the event.

Through her leadership of the event committee, Sue has helped to raise over $1.5 million to support wheelchair sports, art therapy, horticulture therapy, and other patient programs. (For more information on the Night of Champions that will be held on May 8, 2015, please email giving@mageerehab.org.)

In a world where everyone is so busy in their personal and professional lives, we are grateful for the leadership and dedication from Bill, Sue, and all of the other members of the Magee Rehab Hospital Foundation Board. They have truly embraced the Magee mission and work hard to improve the Magee experience for the patients and families we serve.
