28th Humanitarian Award Dinner Raises $175K for Magee

Magee hosted The 28th Humanitarian Award Dinner on Tuesday, November 17. Three hundred guests filled the Grand Ballroom at The Rittenhouse Hotel. The old world charm of the Rittenhouse provided the perfect backdrop for a night of celebration and recognition. This year’s honoree was President and CEO of PECO, Craig L. Adams. Magee and PECO have a long-standing connection and share many core values.

Magee Board member John Spagnola welcomed the group before inviting OT Jillian Kenderish to the stage. Former patient Suria Nordin and her husband Kirby Smith spoke with love and humor about her time at Magee. Their excitement for the new Creative Therapy Center and Healing Gardens was evident as they recapped their rooftop wedding, just over a year ago. Other former patients recognized from the podium included David Rasner and Won Shin. Dr. Jack Carroll, Magee President & CEO discussed the Healing Gardens project followed by a heartfelt appeal from Mark Chilutti, Assistant VP of Development. The night was capped off by Magee Board members Sheree Petrone and Ian McLean presenting The Humanitarian Award to their colleague and friend Craig Adams.

Approximately $175,000 was raised to support The Creative Therapy Center and Healing Gardens on Magee’s 6th floor rooftop. For more information about special events at Magee or ways to participate, contact giving@mageerehab.org or call 215-587-3090.
