Call it the Oscars for nerds, and he just won Best Actor. Former Magee patient Ather Sharif was named “Geek of the Year” at the Philadelphia Geek Awards, held Saturday at the Academy of Natural Sciences.
Ather was a patient at Magee in 2013 after a spinal cord injury from an automobile accident. Since then he’s used his skills as a software engineer to launch EvoXLabs, a nonprofit focused on making the web accessible. You can read more about Ather’s story here.
